Hey All,

Been looking at Empires recently, anyone know what the changes are? if any?

I have had Dynasty Warriors since the PS2, which i always liked for bashing skulls :D, but i like a strategic side too, so i tried empires, not sure if it was 4 or 5, but i found the battlefields empty, compared to the full game, and due too the limited amount of strategy too it, i got rid of it.

It would be nice if:

You could place different sized units around the map, setting up your own strategy.
Equal sized armies to those in the full game, so you don't find the battle fields empty. (This is a 1# priority for me)
Strategic in battle commands, so you can tell your officers to back up others.

I always liked Kessen, so if you could get Kessen's strategic side into DW's head bashing, it would serriously be a top game!

Those are a few ideas that i would like. Anyone know what it will have? :)

(Another point, be able to lose battles and still be around, maybe a loss of officers and men, but you'd still have the other part of your empire!)

in the previous empires games, losing battles would, at worst, lose you the officer you were playing as at the time [and some others depending how the battle went]. the game kept going. i hope that sticks around [some of the ways you can play DW6:E look like they won't really work that way, but most should]

either DW5:E or SW2:E had the ability to give your officers orders. actually, i think both did, but they were terrible at actually Doing it in DW5. SW2 did it pretty well.

please tell me you mean you liked the original Kessen, please?

i LOVE that game. [personal opinion: Kessen 2 was a travesty (and the glitches didn't help anything) though it had it's funny moments, Kessen 3 was pretty good, but an entirely different flavour of game.]

given the general deployments in DW and SW games though, i would not hold your breath about being able to decide where your units start unless you've found some actual info on it.

SW2:E Did have some strategy cards that let you affect it a bit [either starting with half the map belonging to each side, or only the main camps belonging to either side, instead of the normal 'AI controls most of the map' start.] so I'd expect about that level of control again. but it Might be better.

and again, SW2:E [latest empires game before DW6, basically] did a much better job of having battles comparable to the normal game. IF your officers were good enough to bring that many troops and you actually filled up their units. [took some prep time :D]

DW4's maps were just Tiny. i get the impression that that was partially because the basic game was like that though. 5's maps were pretty big, and had plenty of troops on them. they just tended to hang out in one or two bases. very easy to go around, left lots of empty spaces.

i'd bet on an improvement there, but probably still not as good as the basic game.

what i want to see one day [and i hold out no hope for this] is a warriors Orochi empires :D
you can't say it wouldn't be Interesting.

but man, what's with the slowdown in That game? on my 360 it's worse than blade storm, or than SW2 on the PS2 at it's worst. :S ok, got off topic, but i really don't know what was up with that :D

actually, now that i think about it, Kessen 3 was mostly like a really, really... empty... Bladestorm... heh.

but yeah, the strategic side has been getting better in every iteration. if they can decouple the strategic AI from the [sometimes ridiculous] stat based combat difficulty modifiers, I'll be happy :D

i think there's a sticky at the top of the thread list that has a fair description of what DW6:E's all about though. might want to take a look at that.

from a video on youtbe the battlefileds dont look any more full but the bases are filled with more troops so you still have empty battlefields but when u do get enemies u get plenty of them.

Placing units around the map as far as i am aware isnt possible, and im pretty sure the basic in battle strategy system is returning this time round
