Please tell us which is your favorite game of this series and your reasons why.
Mine is Dynasty Warriors 3. Many reasons such as me still finding it the greatest music title of the series. One of the greatest challenges, perhaps, depending on the difficulty of course since of the ferocious enemy AI on the higher levelled stages. And just I generally feel it has a really strong energy about it, as no other game has scored such high marks from me or effected me as this game did, and still does.

Mine is also Dynasty Warriors 3 lol!!! I also got addicted in Dynasty Warriors 4 for a while but for now I think Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce for the PSP is the bestest :D

Yeh I definatley agree with 3 I remember falling in love with it when I first saw it and I liked the bright colours in it. DW 4 became more dark and muddy graphically, I also disliked the moveset updates like Huang Gais bombs and stuff.
I also thought the neon in the ui and stuff was wierd in 4. I think 6 showed signs of 3's inate style and I hope 7 will be the way we all want it to be... like 3 :D

Yeah, 4 looked weird at first considering 2 and 3 were full of joyous colour. I remember seeing a magazine image of Xu Huang and not liking it, whilst going on holiday one time, as I loved his design in DW3. And I wasn't on the internet posting in discussion forums back then.

Dynasty warriors 3 for me. Okay the voice acting is pretty rubbish compared to the other games but I find it the most fun and entertaining. I also found it the most challenging with even the basic soldier being quite tough and able to take you down if your not careful (especially crossbow man if they get several direct hits) which in the later games isn't as common.

Dynasty Warriors 3. It was the first DW game I played round a friends house. I still can think back and remember how awesome it was. Too bad that I never play it anymore. Dynasty Warriors 6 is my 2nd favourite, although I wish they didn't remove characters and released a download to add 'Special' to it.

Mine is...Dynasty Warriors 5. Everyone had an own story, there are 4th weapons and items to unlock. And it was good, that most of the officers were dead, when they supposed to be. Empires is my favourite game of DW5.
My second is Dynasty Warriors 6. It has a completly different system, with Renbu, new weapons and so on. The characters have new designs, the graphics are very nice and the stages are really huge. The reasons, why this game isn't my favourite, are:
-cut characters
-many clones
-not so many stages,as in DW5
-only 17 characters have a musou mode
-no items
I dislike, how you can only get rare horses...the leveling up system is nice though.
However,DW6 is really close to DW5.
Dynasty Warriors 4 for me, I loved the V.S Modes, I used to play them all the time with my friend especially the "Fight In the Dark", soon after I brough DW4 Empires and again loved the VS Modes.
I played that one first, so I believe that is also to blame. :p

Mine two favourites are DW3 and 5, 3 because I liked the colourful graphics, and the challenge the game had was just insane, and DW5 because that game introduced Ling Tong :p also because the graphics were improved upon those from DW4(brighter colours) and also because I think DW5 had the most characters in a DW game so far, seeing how DW6 had a few dropped... -_-

My fav has still got to be DW3. I grew up with that game, it was awesome and to be honest I still think it's the most challenging.

I found him hard in DW2. I think he has got alot easier in the other DW games.
Depending on what level my character was at, I didn't bother going anywhere near him to start off with in DW2! Basically chase you with the red hair and kill you in 2 strokes! lol
The hardest character from DW2 was Zhang Liao, battle of Hei Fei Wu side.
Till this day, it has always been the DW4 series. I found that the characters are awesome. I loved the weapon system (getting experience points) and the gameplay wasn't too easy. I found DW5/DW6 gameplay really really easy.
I love the empires games too.
Dynasty Warriors 4 for me, I loved the V.S Modes, I used to play them all the time with my friend especially the "Fight In the Dark", soon after I brough DW4 Empires and again loved the VS Modes.

I love the VS mode!!!! YEY
Dynasty Warriors 4 would be my choice as well. I thought it improved almost everything from DW3 (perhaps difficulty and certain stages were the only exceptions). The game also added more RPG and tactical elements (weapon experience, use of siege weapons, taunts, duels etc.). Kingdom Musou mode is still my favorite Musou mode in the series since it allowed to switch between characters and you didn't always have to take the same story path making each playthrough feel slightly different.

I think mine would have to be DW6. :D
I like all of the new graphics and I like the new character appearances.
Not much challenge though, except for the fact you have to get all of them to level 50. At the moment I have Zhuge Liang, Liu bei, and Lu Bu at level 50.
But if I had to pick a Dynasty Warrior game on PS2, it would be DW5 Extreme Legends. i like the fact you can make your character, and then serve a certain commander, and you can change their appearance.

Ok, I know this has probably been done before (although i did look through the Dynasty Warriors threads to see but couldn't find one) but I thought I'd post a poll to see which is everybody's favourite Dynasty Warriors game and why.
You can even choose 2. Your first chocie and second choice.
Mine is Dynasty Warriors 5. The reason being that every character has a Musou so therefore longevity and the first Dynasty Warriors game that I actually bothered to complete every Musou.
I have to say though despite it's flaws DW6 is second (at the moment) having just completed the Musou modes. Just started to play the 6 extra Musou's on the PS2 version now. I've really enjoyed Yue Ying's Musou. Plus i really like most of the new character designs.

i posted 6, i love 6, although i was really disapointed that not evryone had a musou, or they cut characters out, so DW5 is my second one
Dynasty Warriors 4 for me, it introduced me to the Warriors series, the story and soundtrack were both great. Something I personally liked in the game was the VS modes specially "Fight in the Dark" and the ones in DW4 Empires, "Endurance Mode" and Melee(?) where the lower your life the further they fly, I remember playing those games a lot of times with some friends. It was really awesome and funny. :D

5 for me by far of the core games, as I dislike the renbu controls and alot of the character designs in DW6.
(I want to say DWG2 too, but its not up there I guess because it's a subseries).

Well considering all the negative things that have been said about DW6 i'm surprised it's in the lead. Ok s o it's only one in front of five but it's there. :)
I still stand by my choice of 5 being my fave though!

The thing I really like about DW6 was the throwing moves which were very cool and I actually liked the Renbu system since it eliminated the formulaic button presses from previous games. Ok it replaced it with something far more simple but it was new all the same.

According to the MyKOEI Game Surverys (and there are more that 4.5k ones done now, thanks everyone). DW5 is the best rated DW game, followed by DW5XL and then DW3. DW6 is scored really highly in first 4 areas but loses out because of the bad Game Length & Multiplayer scores (I guess due to clones, cut characters and whatnot).

I love the DW5 games, like i said before it was the first DW game that i actually completed all musous followed by DW6 which to be honest due to the lack of Musou was hardly a huge task, lol!
So Leady is DWG2 really really that good? (I actually didn't even think of including the DWG in the poll, sorry)

Well I absolutely love it. But I am more of a SciFi geek than anything else so I really like the setting, story, characters etc. as well as the gameplay and depth of customisation.
If it's the characters and the scenario that really does it for you in DW then I'd check wether you could ever get into Gundam first. if you think you could then DWG2 is definately the best Musou game out.

Well i actually like DWG anyway, i did feel the first one was a tad on the slow side but when your controlling a great big robot/gundams/mech's (i don't know what you call them so please excuse my ignorance, lol) they're not exactly going to move like a nimble fighter.
From what i've read about it, i'm sure i'll enjoy it.

(I never found DWG slow personally) but DWG2 has a longer boost meter so you can keep boosting for longer which makes travelling quicker and also you can chain more boost combos together.
It's still not up to BLADESTORM levels of quickness of base-taking tho lol.

DW5 has my vote. I also really enjoyed DW5 XL and DW5E
DW5 storys were told very well. The modes were so cool in DW5XL. The DW5 series have very good graphics and cool storys to with them.
This is becoming harder and harder to decide after the more I play.
For me it could be any of DW3, DW5, or DW6.
DW3 started it off for me, and was the game that got me into the Warriors series. Also been the first to offer co-op play was awesome, my fiancée and I enjoy playing these games together - which is a real added bonus.
DW5 was great because it offered to much, there were a wealth of story modes, and I like how they all introduced themselves individually, clearly a great deal of effort went into this.
But then DW6, while not offering as much in content offers the best gameplay to date by far for the series, the interactivity level is at it's highest, the strategy element has kicked up a notch, and Renbu - while not perfect is a great new addition to the series as well. Adding the skill tree was great as well, it gives you some flexibility while leveling up which I also loved.
Eh, I really can't decide, I'll narrow it down to DW3 or DW6 though, they would be my favorite by generation, ha that's as good as I'll break it down!
I actually enjoy Dynasty Warriors 5 more then any other of the series due to the individual musou modes for each character, their own weapons, moveset, and alternate outfits. This was the first Dynasty Warriors game I got into more then Dynasty Warriors 2 which was my first Dynasty Warriors game.
Xtreme Legends was extremely fun to play as well all because of Rampage was much more different from the original one since it gave you much more room to kill. I actually enjoyed Xtreme mode as well even though at times it was frustration that everytime you started a new one, you start with your weapon at default compared to Dynasty Warriors 4 Xtreme mode. I guess that was the whole purpose of it being xtreme.
Empires surprised me after I realized they had the voice gallery for the characters which was really fun to play around with. I was kinda disappointed how short the battles can be and the fact they had recycled some of the old voices with some new, horrendous voice to Sun Jian and Guan Yu.
Overall, this is by far my favorite out of the series. I am glad to have came across some great characters like Sun Quan, Jiang Wei, and Zhang He because I hadn't noticed them that much from the previous installments due to it's lack of fun factor for me.

DW6E is the best game, but DW5XL's Career Mode for Custom Characters and the ability to then use those characters in DW5E means that Series 5 gets my vote.

I agree with the people who say DW4. They had duel modes which were fun and you finally got to face your friend instead of always being on the same side in the musou and free modes. The CAW was pretty cool too since that was their first system for creating a warrior. Also, they added the most of what they could into the story mode making it the most fun game for Musou Modes.
Last, as cheat07 said, "as great as 6 and 5 are they just arent as good as dw4 was for its time."

Mine is DW 4 too i started with it. 6 has a huge amount of missing elements like: ultima weapon, more outfits for officer, only the graphics were better and also the Lu Bu story was great too. (Sorry i am a Lu Bu fan, i f**ing love his english voice and attitude)
i would have said DW6E but it wasnt there so i came up with DW5 dw6 has copied fighting styles and not much musous but still love the music and fighting styles aswell as the storyXD

I did have a quick go of the original, but I wasn't to keen on the 2D thing! It was up against Tekken, and didn't really contend too well! As soon as it went completely 3D though, it became the game we all love today!

A lot indeed! The one thing Koei have always done in the past, is improve on the on DW2! DW6 lost some of the good things, to make room for others. No fog of war! I just wish they hadn't altered the attack system in the manner they did! Still, if they don't try, nothing would ever change! lol.

Out of them (except DW1, 6E and any XL games), I believe DW2 is the best for its time. The battlefields were really good, so was the music and it was a good game.
However, the best game out of DW has to be DW5 Empires. I think it is such an improvement from DW4 Empires, and is so much fun and you can play it for ages. Neutral starts = fun!
Out of warriors, DW5 is probably the best. The movesets were very good - DW6 hasn't got great movesets with more square spamming rather than other buttons. There were loads of battlefields, decent soundtrack and lots of characters. Some of the new features were good, such as bases and guard captains for checkpoints (I forgot if they had this in DW4).
Dynasty Warriors 4 for me, I loved the V.S Modes, I used to play them all the time with my friend especially the "Fight In the Dark", soon after I brough DW4 Empires and again loved the VS Modes.
I played that one first, so I believe that is also to blame. :p
I agree, and the music is the best also the moves such as Lu Bu's charge attack.

Dynasty Warriors 3, simply because i introduced me to the whole series. The only one of those games I haven't played is the original Dynasty Warriors. I love all the games I've played, but I probably enjoyed 6 the least, because of all the characters and features that had been cut out.
