Which game in the Tomb raider series has been your favourite?
To me it's all about the first one. It was my very first Tomb Raider game and i had no idea what to expect. I'd only seen pictures of Lara Croft and hadn't really read much about it.
I had no ida what i was doing as the whole 3D perspective was weird and i couldn't control her properly, lol! I also remember the feel of isolation that the early games had and the feeling that you were completely on your own. Don't get me wrong that isolated feeling is in the newer Crystal Dynamics games but nowhere near as intense as in the early games.
I've liked every one of the Tomb Raider games but the lowest point for me was The Angel Of Darkness even though i did enjoy you and finish it! I think the controls were the clunkiest and most awkard that the series have ever been. I thought Crystal Dynamics did a great job of turning the series around after the bad press that Angel Of Darkness received. They seem to have got the series back on track however i do think it's about time they started to make the games a little longer as Legend and Underworld are just far too short.
What's your opinion?

My memory is quite poor, but I believe that was the first level of TR2. The remake of TR2 recently was Anniversary (featuring the T-Rex), which was a great remake I was pleased with.
I had TR1-4 when I was younger, but dodged AOD and Legend due to things like time completion. Games nowadays just lack content and length, just for the purpose of download content.
Underworld was a fantastic game, especially the music, Amanda's Ship being my favorite likely. It was just too buggy and unfinished though, and rushed out for the sales, they're the two main flaws.

The T-rex was in the first one wasn't it? I'm sure of it. I'm sure Anniversary was the remake of the first one.
I'm gonna dig the first one out and see if that was the first level where you slide down with a couple of tigers coming at you. I can be forgiven as i am older, lol!
:)
*hangs head in shame*
Yep you're right the bit were you slide down was the first level of TR2. The first one is still my fave though!

Yeah I think the second one was the hot fave, so they redid it. Albeit something to do with the T-Rex being in it.
Out of the list, I played and own all the Tomb Raiders except the last two.
TR Legend was a bit disappointing regarding length but the abilites and gameplay made it the best so far in my opinion.
My vote goes to Tomb Raider III, I loved every bit of the game, Lara's house was quite interesting to explore and try to unlock all the secrets in it. The story itself was great, traveling through various places with different environments with various enigmas to solve makes it a very long and enjoyable game. Still one of my favorite PSX games of all time.
I feel like replaying the game by just talking about it. :P

Ruka, trust me, Anniversary was a very good remake, I don't see why it can't be said as being better than TR2. It'll last you about 15-20 hours altogether. Whereas Underworld perhaps a bit less due to what was taken out and used as DLC...
They are both great, but Underworld was just too buggy that even could many times prevent you from completing it.

Haven't you played Legend? You should do and you can pick it up really cheap now.
So did they cut levels out of Underworld for the PS3? I know the PS2 version was watered down but i didn't know they cut stuff out of the PS3 version and had it as download content. Is it just 360 that got the DLC?
I loved the soundtrack to Underworld, very epic sounding!

Yeah, I missed Legend 'cause I heard it was like 7 hours or so. And yeah, just the 360 and PC get the extra chapters which one of them is said to be decent.

Tomb Raider, one of the best game series' ever created.
My vote goes to TR4, I really liked the whole storyline and how Von Croy was possesed e.t.c
After TR4 though, it definatley has to be TR3, the London missions on it are awesome.

By the way, silvertongue, TR1/TR2 can now be purchased off of the PSN. Kinda cool they're finally there, but I don't know if I'll do it myself.

I was gonna do but I can play them on my PS2, plus I have two psp's one for my PSone Collection and the other to play PSP games.
Also I bought the PS2 version of Underworld and it's a mess. It's really really bad. It's like the worst looking TR game ever. It's shockingly bad and to be honest I found it unplayable but bought it for the collection.

Really? Well I've just had a quick read about the game and yes it seems you're correct. More buggy than the PS3 version? Wow that must be something lol.
Strange since Anniversary was a great remake and I can't think of any immediate faults with bugs.

It's horrendously bad LDZ. Really really really bad. I was so disappointed. I loved the PS3 version but wanted to play the PS2 version too but really couldn't be bothered when i discovered how badly it played. Bright side though I only paid a fiver for it.
Anniversary was fantastic and I don't remember any bugs but I'm sure there were a couple.

I really like the look of the new downloable game. Saw it at e3 and it looked good. ^^

I haven't read much about the new download game but I'm a bit hesitant if I'm honest. I'll still buy and see what it's like. I'll google and see what I can find.

Just read this from Wiki (yeah I know it's not 100% reliable but there you go):
"Guardian of Light will not be a part of the main Tomb Raider brand, instead it is intended to start a new series simply titled, "Lara Croft". Brand director Karl Stewart said, "When Underworld was finished, that was an end to the trilogy, and kind of the end of a whole era for us. We took a step back as a studio and spent a couple of months experimenting, trying to make a decision on how to go forward".[10] He also stated that everyone who worked on the previous three Tomb Raider games also worked on the Guardian of Light.[1] Guardian of Light will use the same game engine as Tomb Raider: Underworld and will feature real-time lighting effects, realistic shadows and "tons" of physics-based objects.[12] Vegetation will sway in the wind and react when the player walks through it and water will splash as the player runs through it.[3][4] The environments will have a "nice sense of scale".[3] Crystal Dynamics stated on their Facebook page that development on Guardian of Light has not affected development on Tomb Raider 9, the next main instalment in the franchise.[2]"
Glad to see it's not affected developement on the next Tomb Raider title.
Just watched a trailer for Lara Croft & The Guardian Of Light and I have to say I'm pretty excited about it. It kinda reminds me of a Baldurs Gate game.

Yeah it's only a game that lasts a few hours, but it's very cheap. I guess they wanted to just test something or were just bored lol.
Yeah I'm looking forward to the next main title. If there's no bugs I'm sure it'll be great.
