View Full Version : Japanese voice acting ?
Hello,
I heard the preview version didn't have japanese voice acting so will we have japanese voice acting in the released version?
Many people are more used to japanese voices and are looking forward to it.

Japanese voices was not availbale in the european preview version.
All players and fans hope it will be added for the 24th April.
Gundam is japanese, so yes i want japanese voices too !!
Japanese voices for the win. We absolutely need them to play DWG2 :|

Well with a good month to simply transfer the Japanese voice overs to the PAL versions I would bet heavily in favour of it being added. Failing that some rumours are circulating that the 00 units might be making an appearance, so who knows.
I hope they include them or give us the chance to download it through PSN at least...playing GM1 with them was ace.
I need an official confirmation ;_;

I just hope it comes out this time, they can DLC it later if they want to. Perhapses with the Deathscythe, Shenlong, Sandrock and Heavy Arms.

The US version doesn't have it appartenly according to a post on koei.com forums so the chances of europe getting it are 0 more than likely :P

Argh, my heart fails ... Why no japanese voices on a japanese anime licence ?
i hope it is only a bad rumor
Hey, all people and admins, do you think we can do a petition to have japanese voices if they are not on final version? maybe with good results, it can be a free DLC.

Why would it normally it's the european version that gets left out I think in fact (though please correct me if I'm wrong) DW Gundam was the first Warriors game to have the Japanese voice track over in Europe while it was a fair few of them in the US
I want to hope in a DLC...
What, there's no VO ?!... I am surprised! Yet the Japanese voices were in the first game, why are not there for this one? Problem space on the disk?
I was glad that he came out in 3 days, now I am less :(
No Japanese voices no Euros for Koei, that's it.
I think it juste ridiculous that DWG 1 have the japanese voices and not DWG 2.
Why ?
Plaese Koei make a DLC for the VO, because in Europe we don't want this horrible english voices (maybe for American et UK it's good but not for us the others we re not english).....

LOL and English people don't speak English ?
You're are french like me i understand you...we are in a japanese and manga fashion culture in France (especially in France), and in others countries too like Italia, Spain and others. I don't know if it is true but maybe in some countries Gundan is completely unknown.
I think Koei did a merchandising error to not let to have the choices in audio languages but maybe space was too short on a dvd9.
Anyway, maybe Leady FF and Insp. Chin and maybe others important persons can help all european and american players if they can prepare a petition to Koei in order to have japanese voices in the game by DLC if it is not in the game. And maybe also a petition to have Japanese voices in futures games like Dw6 Empires and others.
hey Guys, what do you think about that ?
I lol'd.
Shinn: "You want another WHOORE?!"
English voices are good only for US & UK players, as Shindo said. I find them very innatural for characters like SEED DESTINY ones, I'm used to japanese voice actors... I really want them :(
EDIT: I was thinking about making a petition site.
Yeah like I said this english dub is okay for USA or UK because it's their language.
But for a french people, or italian, german, spanish and other in Europe it's not ok at all.
Personnaly I saw Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny with french dub on DVD and other Gundam series in Japanese, so I don't want to heard this horrible english voices.
Kira, Judau (particulary this one, It's like the english actor did not have his teeth anymore), Shin, Amuro or Camille voices sucks, sorry but it's true.
I really can't play with that ^^
And i m ok for a petition for Japanese voices in Europe (in USA i don't care lol) if that can bring it here even if it has a cost.

thanks for that Zechs !!
No Japanese for North American copy? Extremely disappointed =(
By any chance anyone know which voice actor did they use for Amuro & Char? Are they the one from Char's counter attack? If so it would be bearable.
Gundam game without Japanese voice over... Why KOEI why?
LittleDragonZ

Don't know if they are from Counter Attack, but Amuro & Char have the same voices as they do in Gundam 1. All the voices have returned, obviously except the newcomers of which I can't confirm since I never watched the shows.

Well the game is great. I've been playing it for 3 hours now... but the thing is... the japanese voice-casting would make it GUNDAM-great :). I hope they'll be on the downloadable content soon.
So Zechs for the Koei petition ? :)
The game is great that's true, but the english voices are really bad, with japanese the game exeperience will be far better.
KOEI, Gundam game without Japanese voice! Very big mistake. If Japanese voice over will be on DLC, I'll buy this game ;)

Buy it anyway. Trust me, you HAVE to play this game. ;)
If this is truly a loss and you have a PS3, made as me take the game JAP import, it is not zoned. However it is a little difficult to understand, but you do not trouble your ears :) .
I bought the game and wanted to start the game as Char Aznable, and what do I see? No Japanese voices??? If I had known I'd have imported the japanese version. Thanks Koei. :/
Hello just wanted to know I prefer the Japanese Voices 10 :D^v^:Dtimes kick ass that the English Voices:P
Can it possible when the Download Content for Japanese Voices will be available?
please find out for any updates
Many Thanks^.^@:)
I wait for this game, because i really like the first Dynasty Warrior Gundam with his Japanese Voice ... After the first DW Gundam I really think DW Gundam 2 have Japanese voice ... But no ... I'm desappointed
Please Koei make a patch with Japanese Voice for this game in DLC ... Please Save this game ...

There is now a petition going to help convince KOEI how seriously we want them to add the original Japanese voices & music as options in both the U.S. & European versions of Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2! This is entirely possible through XBOX Live! & Playstation Network and has been done before for other anime based games (also NAMCO/Bandai released).
Please spread the word if you can...
For those of us who care, this is our best hope to reach KOEI that I know of.

japanese voices are cool and all that it's just that i think english is alot better i feel that when i watch it in english there is more personality in the voices and different accents which add more to the character if i listen in japanese i do hear emotion but otherwise its either really deep or high pitched voices i jus hear more range when in english

Yes but think everyone don't live in UK or USA so don't speak English and don't want to hear English especialy in Europe.
So Japanese voices are the best, english voices are ridiculous because the actors are bad.

I hate you, you are now my enemy :)
Anyways on serious note, I respect your opinion Nathan, but I grew up listening to every series except gundam wing in japanese so it adds more to the game for me since they usually bring back all of the original voice actors for the JP versions, unlike the US versions. (case in point.... domon..... although I can deal with this guy, he's not too bad)
And sometimes, the US dub is just too whinny for my taste; I prefer JP Shinn, Kira, and Athrun to US dub Shinn, Athrun, Kira. Although, if they would've brought back the original Kira voice actor, I might have agreed with you.

Those accents etc won't make me feel anything, neither do they make it more personal. Dub is almost always a rape, in my opinion in this case a horrible one. Japanese voices aka original cast rules over all.

I am guessing the other language websites besides English for DW:G2 were just for text? I am curious why some just didnt buy japanese version, as Dynasty Warriors are easy to understand games, and most likely its easy to tell what to do thanks to watching the anime. The main problem, admitley would be terminal events, but saying no just meant coming back later.
Thadius
12-05-09, 11:04 AM
The japanese version would have been simple enough to a point. The mission mode would have been a little tricky I imagine, when dealing with certain objectives, and getting characters to be friends with you. Unlocking Quess is probably the hardest since you need a non newtype character, make friends with her, read her terminal message and then become a newtype. If you hadn't of known before hand and run out of non newtype characters then you might of had a problem there. Saying no, can make certain characters like Glemy hate you, a mistake I made early on in mission mode and it took a long time to make him friendly again.

Really? So far I have just gone for the positive/yes/join this group answers and not had anyone immediately go down to contempt. Not saying its wrong though just obviously not gotten the missions with those terminal options yet. Anyone know how you get the V2 and F91 license missions? So far those and the freedom and destiny licenses elude me.

Heero and Milliardo have messages that = contempt if you read them. Did you finish those 4 peoples storylines?
Thadius
12-05-09, 04:02 PM
I haven't played any other characters mission mode bar Athrun Zala's. So the only missions I have had regarding Heero and Millardo are the ones that unlock their friendship missions, which I have done. I joined Milliardo's group and did his missions, not sure about Heero, probably have though. If the option came up I probably picked the right dialogue option though so they never hated me.

I got Heero's friendship mission by him telling me he wanted to kill me. Surprisingly that lead to contempt level after the message finished.

You need to complete the story missions of the owner, eg. once you complete Seabook's story missions, you can do the license mission for the F91 as any character as long as they have high enough relations with Seabook. Same thing with Uso, Athrun, Kira and Shinn.
Thadius

You'll need to have seabook in good relations with Athrun, but yes the license mission should appear there, at least in grey if you don't have good relations with Athrun.

Question: will I have to play the game from the beginning again or will I use the save from the UE version?
Leady FF ^^
04-08-09, 03:02 PM
I don't think the save data is compatible between DWG2 and GM2 so you would have start again with the Japanese one.
Sorry but it have to play a new game^^;
Yes with 15 Content Download (require creating a made-up account for playstation network)
I Know what you saying!
But the reason the japanese voice wasn't added because of the copyright laws sorry about that^^;
note: I ask the koei staff at the London Excel (event) about it
What's this bullshit ? So why DWG 1 have them ???
I think it's because Koei Europe doesn't want to pay for them, money money
I sell the game next month, and for the future Gundam games I personaly warn Koei or Namco Bandai: No japanese voices no buy (I hope people here do the same)
Why I have to pay more for an incomplete game ? We are not stupid, one time but not twice.
I prefer to play japanese version and don't understand than horrible english voices :)
Then by all means buy the JP version.
Not only has it got Japanese voice over, it also has the original tracks from the Gundam series (which were replaced by your usual DW battle BGM in the western releases).
PS3 and X360 should be region-free anyway so you just need to import the game :D

You say that because you're austarlian, you speak english and you don't have problem to listen voices from your first language.
Not us, probably if the dub in DWG 2 was french maybe I could like it, but that's not the case.
Anyway when you buy a Gundam game and you're a real Gundam fan you have to play with original voices and soundtrack.

As for the topic at hand, I really dont care all that much for the option to have a JP voice...sure you could have it on DW3, but I did not one ever use it, I didnt really find it to be productive at all, I would much rather play a game where I actually knew what the characters were saying, and im sure im not the only one who thinks that.

24-08-09, 06:45 PM
godlikephoenix, but remember that the mouthmovements are very important, its like seeing iron man with german dubs. thats what dw and sw games look to non u.k. europeans.
We can understand the english but its still 'dubs'.
i dont even have gundam but i wanted to respond anyway and uh, i never noticed a jap. va in DW3. Only french and german. :l
(wich is even more stupid, we dont want our own language we want original voices)
I didnt really find it to be productive at all, I would much rather play a game where I actually knew what the characters were saying, and im sure im not the only one who thinks that. While that's a most legitimate reason, there are some things I think should be said:
- Gundam, unlike DW, is a series of anime shows, movies and so on, and not every one of them gets dubbed, especially in places like Europe (we only got 0079 and Wing where I live). If you want to watch a JP-only series, you need to watch it subbed...which means you'll eventually get used to the JP voices.
In a similar fashion, imagine watching...something. Then you play a game based on it, and the voice actors are different. You'd be all 'WTF??', and rightly so.
- other Gundam series already have a dubbed version, but the voice actors are different nonetheless, and sometimes they even sound nothing like the original. Kind of like "What, Daniel Radcliffe has got a cold? hen let's have Samuel L. Jackson voice Harry in the next video game!". I would laugh my head off if that happened, but -for example- Domon's new voice is just wrong on so many levels.
- lastly, it's a 'Warriors' game. The characters say the same things over and over and over again: "ah need ur halp", "imp-rahsiv", "imma retreat nao" and so on. Occasionally someone says "ur a thru wariur ov da tree kindamz" (or "pear-less mite" in SW)...it's not that much of a loss if you don't know what they're saying. Furthermore, all important messages appear on-screen and aren't voiced anyway.
i dont even have gundam but i wanted to respond anyway and uh, i never noticed a jap. va in DW3. Only french and german. :l
(wich is even more stupid, we dont want our own language we want original voices)If I recall correctly, SW1 also had a JP voice option...that is, in the USA version. What was the point in removing it anyway?
Also, hearing Cao Cao call himself "So-So" would be just as amusing as his son saying "I am Cow Pee" in DW5 or random footsoldiers being scared of "the mighty Loo Boo" X°°D
We also had Z Gundam in italian, Ramza :)
However: I think it's too late to discuss on DWG2 voices. We will never have JP Voices DLC. We can only hope in DWG3...

@Ramza & Musou hat: ok, I know that it can get annoying when something like that happens, but if you really dont like the English voices...mute the sound and listen to music, the reason that gaming companies make the english version is so that more people cna understand the games, and not everyone knows everything about the Gundam series' so they wouldnt know the story, the characters and so on...much like myself, so if they were to be thrown in the deep end with only the JP voices as an option...how are they suppose to know what they're suppose to be doing?
I know you both have valid points, its just that I really dont think that it is that most important thing in a game, there are other aspects of games that I think are much more important, but then again, thats just me :)
We also had Z Gundam in italian, Ramza :)Really? I never heard of it! Now I have another reason to watch it again :p

But Zeta still missing ^^
@Ramza & Musou hat: ok, I know that it can get annoying when something like that happens, but if you really dont like the English voices...mute the sound and listen to music, the reason that gaming companies make the english version is so that more people cna understand the games, and not everyone knows everything about the Gundam series' so they wouldnt know the story, the characters and so on...much like myself, so if they were to be thrown in the deep end with only the JP voices as an option...how are they suppose to know what they're suppose to be doing?
Euh the game is subbed right ? So you can understand it if you can read (you don't have 5 years old ^^) so you can understand the game without english dub ^^
And "mute the sound" it's pretty easy to say :p
I just think english language is horrible to listen in japanimation, it doesn't fit to it. The only good english dub that I heard was in Ghost in the Shell.
English language is good for comics animation or hollywood films but for mangas not.
French is far better, or italian, but the best is for sure the original: japanese.
I don't dislike english language, I mean I m here talking with you australian (or aussies right ?) and UK buddys, I try to learn it because I need it, it's important but for stuff like japanese video games from mangas or other japanese stuff for me English doesn't fit. It's ok for games like Metal Gear Solid or Resident Evil, I like it but for mangas game or animation I prefere French or Japanese (japanese the most) :)
godlikephoenix, but remember that the mouthmovements are very important, its like seeing iron man with german dubs. thats what dw and sw games look to non u.k. europeans.
We can understand the english but its still 'dubs'.
i dont even have gundam but i wanted to respond anyway and uh, i never noticed a jap. va in DW3. Only french and german. :l
(wich is even more stupid, we dont want our own language we want original voices)
Completly in agreement with you ^^
The reason it was removed because of the copyright protection laws
I know Many thanks
P.S: Haven't tell you I got all the Gundam Series and there is another game that is on ps2 - japan only Dynasty Warriors: GUNDAM Extreme Legends (Gundam Musou Special)
Musha Gundam Storyline had added and making a early appearing is Musha Gundam Mk II
I would much rather play a game where I actually knew what the characters were saying, and im sure im not the only one who thinks that.
With only the english sub you can know what they're saying.
You you're not a blind person right ? :D
Most of the games based on mangas or japanese animation have japenese voices.
I juste saw the realase for Dragon Ball Z Raging Blast, One Piece Unlimited Cruise 2 or Dragon Ball Revenge of King Picollo for Europe and all these games have japanese voices :)
Maybe because Namco Bandai realase them, and maybe for DWG 2 the big problem is Koei, and maybe Koei have to stop touching Gundam games and let Namco Bandai make a better job for the voices and other
Sorry I m just a little irritate when I see all the japanese mangas games have japanese voices in Europe except Gundam....
