View Full Version : Killzone 2
So, kids... Killzone 2 got some pretty damn awesome reviews.
Who else is interested?
EDIT:

*waited for days to talk to someone about this*
HONESTLY? Nobody? .___.
played the demo. way too short. but the game's awesome. nothing revolutionary but still...very intense and actiony. cinematic too. and beautiful. the menu score is brilliant! XDD
did you try it outi?
Nope, I don't need to try it... I need to BUY it XD
XDDD you really do hate demos dont you XD
but the game IS good. not revolutinary like cod 4 per se, but it combines all the good things in shooters. but damn...another online shooter...added to my MGO, cod waw, resistance 2...geez...this is too much for little o me XD
not revolutinary like cod 4
Was COD 4 revolutionary lol ?
BTW, where do you download the demo ? Looked through the PSN Store yesterday and I didn't see it...
XDDD you really do hate demos dont you XD I don't HATE demos. I think they're a good thing to have.
But when a game has scored 9/10 in most reviews and it's called Killzone 2, I really don't have to download a demo anymore...
I downloaded the demo for Mirror's Edge 'cause I wasn't sure wether or not I should buy it.

Apparently over 11 million people have already pre-ordered this game... This is definitely going to be a big exclusive shooter for the PS3, given that already a large portion of the community from another board will get this game. I can't wait to play it on the PSN.
Seriously 11 million!? .O
This is awesome! I've been so worried for Sony... I don't care if the PS3 doesn't "win", but I don't wanna see Sony going completely bankrupt because of it. 11 million is a lot of copies. A lot of games will NEVER sell that many copies, so in that sense it's quite a feat to score numbers like that from pre-orders alone.
I'm not even a huge fan of the FPS genre... The only FPS game I have for my consoles right now is Half-Life 2: The Orange Box (if you don't count Fallout 3 as an FPS). But I used to play a lot of FPS games when I was a kid and every now and then I get the feeling that it'd be good to have a couple of really fine shooters in my game collection. And I've been looking for the right one for a long time.
The reason why I originally got interested in Killzone 2 is because there was obviously this huge hype building up around it... but also because it has a lot of those elements that I've been looking for in an FPS game for so long. I'm picky about these things, you know.
(And I mean REALLY picky!)
I don't want an FPS that re-enacts any real wars and/or historical events. Especially not if it's about WW2, the war at Vietnam, or the war in Afghanistan. I think it's just sick to turn something awful like that into a video game, into entertainment. In other words, I want my FPS games to have a totally fictional setting... and that's usually where we run into our next problem 'cause I don't want it to look and feel like pure fantasy or science fiction either. I want to be able to still feel like there's a real war going on and it's scary and intense and I'm stuck in the middle of it.
The reason why I didn't buy Resistance 2 for example - even though it got awesome reviews - is because I think the aliens in that game look tacky. It doesn't give me the feeling that I'm in a life threatening situation 'cause the game doesn't give me the feeling that THIS COULD REALLY BE HAPPENING!
But I think Killzone 2 is awesome 'cause even though the setting is futuristic and totally sci-fi, it still has this credibility to it. Most of the weapons are pretty standard issue. You're not running around with a gun that looks like an electric shaver and shoots pink energy projectiles... the Helghast look like they could be human so it's not like you feel like you're fighting some ridiculous aliens from Independence Day... and all the environments, all the buildings and stuff like that look like they could be real... there are no force fields or organic-looking buildings and vehicles or any of the usual alien/space mumbo-jumbo...
I don't know why I'm so picky about FPS games. I can't explain it.
And it's really funny 'cause Fallout 3 - for example - plays pretty much like a regular FPS game, but I don't mind the Super Mutants and Ghouls and Plasma Rifles there... Though it COULD be because I was a huge fan of Fallout 2 and that's why I think of Fallout 3 as just another RPG, not as an FPS.
And the only reason why I bought the Orange Box was because I was feeling nostalgic about being really addicted to the original Half-Life as a kid.
Wow... this turned out to be a really long comment.

I've said this over at the other KOEI forums, but I probably will not be buying this because of one particular omission: split-screen multiplayer.
I enjoy FPS games, but not enough that I would shell out for them when they don't include my favourite part of them, which is a 4 way killfest with people in the same room. Admitedly a strong single player could be tempting but I'd really want split screen multiplayer.
I haven't played a game which has struck the balance right since Timesplitters 2.
It's a shame, because the game does look nice as far as FPS's go, but no 4-player split screen is why I've skipped Haze and Resistance 2, and it'll probably be the same here.
i said cod 4 was revolutionary because...well, never before have i seen such an intense fps or such a good multiplayer before. and if ya say Counter strike then i hate it and thats that XD cod was superb. and thats all "IMO".
oh and outi. call of duty 4 doesnt reenact any historical event. its a fictional story. and its helluva realistic and believable. and like yo usaid, you dont want hostorical events then there yo uhave it. now world at war DOES reenact the war and it IS made entertainment but i really felt scared by the brutality shown in it. it was like a movie or whatever. its kinda educational cause i was learning world war 2 at school again and it helped me visualize. and if ya hate this then you should hate any other media related to historical events too. like historical movies or stuff that are also - entertainment. i dont think you do. but if you do then case closed.
and about the splitscreen....its a total shame. to overlook such a feature. well, if it wasnt implemented because of space issues or whatever then its justifiable. still a bummer though.
@ Oddie: Please don't tell me what to like and what to dislike and why... I just don't wanna play an FPS game that's set in the events of any real war and I can't help it. And I can't help the fact either that I don't wanna play CoD4.
Sorry... I don't know what else to tell you.
The bottom line is that I like the feeling that I'm getting from Killzone 2 and I don't like the feeling that I'm getting from 90% of other FPS games.
okay. i totally get you. like i said if thats how you feel then case closed. *thumbs up and a wonky smile*
Ooh! What's this? You've learned how to quit arguing with me! .O
yeah because i began to understand other people's oppinions XD of course...not acknowledge them or respect them but...simply i understood that if its firm then it is no use arguing with it. XD and your is one of the firmest ive seen XD also i dont like when your angry with me. i just hate it. XD

ME GOTZ IT TOOOO now shutch yo face!
LOL, wont be able to play till tonight most likely though.
I have to take a month long break from video games now. I need to make sure I graduate from school with decent grades... It sucks 'cause I'd really wanna play KZ2 online, but I know that if I do, I'll get addicted to that and I'll just forget about school.
