So this morning i have an email waiting for me from Atuls about the next Shin Megami Tensei game:
SMT: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon
It's due for release in May of this year on the PS2 (U.S.) so i'm really excited about this. However, what would make it even more exciting would be if Koei got the distribution/publishing rights to bring this game to the game U.K.
Any chance this may happen Leady? Chin?
:D
I'm a big fan of the SMT-series, but honestly... if this game sucks anywhere near as badly as SMT: DS: Raidou Kuzunoha VS The Soulless Army, then I'll just pass.

I take it your not a fan of the first one then?lol
I enjoyed it apart from the far too many random battles.
:)
I didn't mind the frequent random fights. But the battle system... GAH! What a bore...

The frequent random battles got on my nerves in Devil Summoner! Maybe it was because the battle system was a bit on the poor side. However saying that i did enjoy the game.
Let's just hope that 2nd one is more improved in the battle system!
Let's just hope that 2nd one is more improved in the battle system!Yeah, let's. Otherwise I'm just gonna leave that game sitting on the store shelf.

I haven't finished the first Devil Summoner yet (I liked it, even if the battles made me scream at the TV at times.)... but I preordered this one already. ...... Yes, it was totally for Raiho. I won't even deny it. It'll go great with my Teddie plushie.
Oh, I have a Super Mario Bros mushroom plushie! (i ownz)

A DS Devil Summoner? Not that I know about it but the idea seems great.
If this comes here (Australia = here) I will get it most likely. As for the first one it is not my favourite but is it good,

Sorry, I meant to say Devil Survivor which is the one that has just come out in Japan.

I want a Teddie plushie! He' so cute!:o
I enjoy the first one, going to start my second play-through soon. I do hope the battle system is a bit more fluid, DS1 felt like the prototype to SMT: Imagine's battle system.

I really hope this game gets published in the UK. Though I'll probably import a game if there's absolutely no other option (like in the cases of Xenogears or Rhapsody), I'd really much rather have a PAL copy of the game available. Importing can be too much of a hassle and more expensive than buying it in the motherland. Plus, it just doesn't feel right to me. But mebe that's just me though, heh.
I really loved the first one and hope the second makes it to these shores somehow; it'd be a real shame for it not to get a release, especially considering how many of my favourite games Koei have published in the past (Soul Nomad, Disgaea 2 and Persona 3, as well as the first Devil Summoner of course, come to mind). Though maybe I'm just gettin' greedy here.
If there was even a slight chance Koei were considering bringing it over here, I'd be happy. Considering the PS2's lifespan isn't looking to good, it's really got me worried for DS2--still, there's a little hope. There are still PS2 games being released and published here. I just want to see DS2 be one of those games.
And as a side note, I'm also interested in the Devil Survivor game. =]
And yes, I did sign up just to post in this topic. I want DS2, dernit!

I agree with you 100%. If it doesn't come out over here then importing is the next option but it can cost a bit. I always get slapped with custom charges.
So let's just hope that Koei bring this title to the UK (Europe) like they did with the first :)

Yeah. I had quite a bad experience with charges recently after ordering the Digital Devil Saga soundtrack. It only cost £17, but there was some sort of charge that added up to around £20! Freakin' Royal Mail...
Fortunately the house was empty at the time, so they left the package with a neighbour and we didn't have to pay anything, hahah.
Originally I was actually tempted to import the American version of Devil Summoner for that Raiho plushie and later buy the game, again, when it came out here later. But money (or lack thereof) prevented me from doing so... though that's only 'cause I ended up buying Persona 4 instead.

There is so many SMT stuff coming out like
This (SMT:RK vs KA)
Persona remake
The ds game (Devil Survivor?)
Koei has quite a few games coming up in the next few months (NIS rpgs , DW6 Empires) but I hope the above 3 are a chance to be published (mostly this game to avoid region locking) or Square Enix liked the Persona 4 sales.

I was thinking about that too. If Koei doesn't publish Devil Summoner, or any of the other games you mentioned, there's always a chance someone else will pick them up.
I hope Persona 4's sales were favourable. It might make Square more interested in the SMT series. That being said, I didn't really see any advertisement for it anywhere.

I've had a quick lookabout, and from I gather:
Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs The Souless Army was released October 10 2006 in America.
The earliest source I have confirming Koei were bringing to to Europe is in February sometime, 2007 obviously. It was then released in April of the same year. So Devil Summoner wasn't even announced for Europe until a few months after it had its US release.
Considering the second one doesn't come out for three days, that puts my mind at ease somewhat, haha. =D
I don't know why I'm worried so much for the fate of this game. Maybe it's 'cause I'm really starting to get into the SMT series as a whole.

Earlier PS2 games tended to take 1/2 year to reach europe but many european distbutors have improved in this regard. I am kinda worried about PS2 RPGs reaching Europe as it takes time, and if Square/Koei/Ghostlight(SMT:LC and SMT: DDS) are actually interested in it. NIS America is taking a lot of games to E3, which I imagine might keep KOEI busy so hopefully there is still interest in SMT games for KOEI.
Ghostlight seem to be publishing Agrest: Generations Of War, a rather interesting rpg. Hopefully, they are interested in other RPGs too like the 3 mentioned above. Hell, look what happened to Shadow Hearts 3.

I agree. Looking at the list of games coming out until the end of July (according to GameFAQs), the only RPG game there is Ar Tonelico II. On top of that, all the others seem to be either party games or movie tie-ins. In short, it doesn't look good.
I never thought about Ghostlight. I love them for bringing SH3 out; after waiting for it for so long, I was convinced it wouldn't get a release here. I'm glad I was proven wrong. Same goes for DDS and DDS2, which are possibly my most favourites games alongside the first Shadow Hearts, though I wasn't really aware of the SMT series until after DDS was released anyway.

There is more rpg publishers like Rising Star and 505 games. Still, I wonder what out of NIS at E3 will come to Europe? Besides the obvious Disgaea 2 and possibly Phantom Brave.

Has anyone gotten their copies yet? I haven't gotten a shipping notice, but gamestop has appearently shipped mine.
I didn't order it, even if I wanted to (because I wanted the plushie XD) but I haven't beat the first yet... (the truth is I haven't begin the game yet...)

I haven't ordered either, but it'll be nice to hear from anyone who has when they get a chance to play. Like, how it's improved on the original and such.
I've heard much of the music is redone or even exactly the same as in the first one, but that's not too bad for me; I love Meguro's work.

My copy arrived like five minutes ago. It was in an oversized box. Gamestop needs to learn how to save trees.
I may take pictures later. Right now it just looks too nice to open ;o;

Aww, poor trees. =C Massacred in their prime and turned into boxes. What a life.
Anyways.
I know that feeling. I savour the moment I open games I've been wanting for ages--nothing beats that new game smell. I even kept my copy of Baroque sealed for about a month after I got it to preserve the freshness.

Sorry for the double post (although this thread has been inactive for some time) but can anyone who imported Raidou 2 tell me where I could import too? The only site that I've looked at that has it is Amazon.com, but I seem to remember that they don't deliver electronic goods outside of the US/Canada. Unless I'm mistaken, which I suppose would be a good thing.
From the looks of things, it seems doubtful this game will ever make it here, so I'd like to get a copy now before it becomes (exceedingly) rare. Though I would gladly buy a secondary copy if it did get published in the UK/EU.
Apologies again if this isn't where I should be asking such a question.

Hello,
i like also Devil Summoner 2 go published in Pal, please Koei
bring us this game like the first one.
For what i readed in the comments of people and reviews who
played the game, this second game have a a lot of improvements
and changes, is a lot better and more fun.
Atlus takes the criticism about the firts one and worked
in the game for the fans.
Its a hell nobody's says nothing about a Pal release...
I hope in the next months anybody announces the Pal release
of this fantastic game of Playstation 2.
Best regards.

It seems very unlikely indeed, but I guess not impossible.
Well I think it's dead for Euro realase ^^
It's probably too late for the realase because most of the people in Europe import it, so I think i have to import it too like Devil Survivor, Persona 1 and maybe Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey.
Maybe one day some European editors will understand that we are fed up there to wait for the RPG, or even for nothing beacause the RPG doesn't come here (for France or Italy or Spain it's worse because they're not translate when they come sometimes).
So import, import, import :)

I'm still going to wait until the end of this year myself (or at least until the end of October or November), just in case somebody does decide to pick it up and announces a Europe release. Had this come out about even half a year earlier in Japan, I think there would have been a bigger chance for a release here.
But in Europe, the PS2 is essentially dead now, unlike in Japan/the US. According to GameFAQs, from now until October, Europe has about six releases on the PS2, whereas Japan/the US have at least twenty each.
Onislash
20-08-09, 03:12 PM
Indeed, I would rather not have to import.
They have just to make a PAL/NTSC conversion (we already know they never will translate this in French, spain ou italian) so it's pretty easy.
If in october or november there no news, it will be definitely dead.

Yeah. I'd suggest if you do want the game that you should just import it from America now, unless you don't have a PS that is compatible of course. Although I'd love it to be announced here, there's basically no chance by now.
I'm waiting for my imported copy at the moment (with Raiho!), but it's taking its time, what with the strikes and all. (At least, I hope that's what it is and that it hasn't gotten lost somewhere along the line. =/)

This really sucks, i can import, but i prefer buy a Pal version, if the
first game arrived here, why not the second?
The worst thing is nobody says nothing official, and is the same exactly
for the game Mana Khemia 2, too bad, Pal is always the last poor ****.
Regards.
The market for ps2 in europe is still alive. I hope for this game...
