I have both vol.1 and vol.2 books from C. H. Brewitt Taylor, but haven't started reading them yet as I lead quite a busy and exciting life. Have you read it or do you have the book? How long did it take you to read it? Did you like or understand it? And so on...

I've read part of it. I got to the Battle of Chi Bi and just sort of...lost interest. It was a cool story, but the book spent so much time describing the names and backgrounds of characters that were killed off two pages later that it seemed like the plot never went anywhere.

And since I had the "abridged" version (which is definitely a relative term, since this was still a pretty huge book), there were times where three or four chapters would just be cut out of the book. They'd explain what had happened, but I couldn't read about it.

So yeah, it was pretty enjoyable for a while, but I think I'd have liked it more if they had spent less time talking about minor characters that never actually did anything.

I read Volume I-IV (the entire set) of Luo Guanzhongs 3 years back, it took me roughly 10 months to read, I read it little by little before sleeping, pretty hard to absorb but I've caught atleast the jist and highlights of the entire story and learnt plenty about figures which interest me such as Song Xian, Cao Cao, Emperor Hán Xian di, Huang Zhong, Guo Jai and Zhou Yu.

Yes... I have also the Compact Classic version of ROTTK which is a comic and is reduced tremendously compared to the proper novel. I bought it on Ebay for £10. The pictures however, are only in black and white, still, alot easier to understand.

Yes I have, the two book version that you described. I found them to be a great read, perhaps the only downer is post Wu Zhang, where Guanzhong Luo clearly couldn't be bothered anymore, it just feels very uninspired from that point, which thankfully is condensed into a few chapters so it doesn't drag that much.

I haven't read or bought it. I can't pay attention to anything I read.

I'm just reading through the Moss Roberts translation of Luo Guanzhongs at the moment. I'm addicted to it. It's a little confusing at first with all the names but it kinda just clicks into place after a couple of chapters.

Psycho_Ifrit: You can order it from Waterstones. That's where i got mine from. It's the four book set by Lou Guanzhong translated by Moss Roberts. It took about three weeks to order it in and it cost £19.99.

This is the ISBN:
978-7-119-00590-4
Give them that number and they'll find it no problem on the system.

Got them all and read them all after DW4. Was interesting at first for me to have to figure out who a few people were having only heard there names from DW e.g. Tsao Tsao didn't realise that was Cao Cao at first. Overall I enjoyed it up to Wu Zhang Plains after that will I continued to read it I didn't like it as much as the rest of the books.

I have the novels but never got around to reading them all. I started on volume 1 but skipped to volume 2 since the names were easier to tell apart.

I've been reading a free internet version (though I do on plan on buying a hard copy sometime), it's been a very long "in progress" though. I've still got quite a while to go. I think I'm up to the battle where Liu Bei attacks Liu Zhang (forgot the name of the battle, sorry o.o)

When I was in school we learned some Chinese Idioms, some of them were by Zhuge Liang, some of them were by Cao Cao, which means we actually studied Three Kingdoms story as well to get to know more about the history. Of course it's not a thick novel book but a picture with less text that type of story book in primary school. So yeah I knew a bit from there but mostly from DW games XD

I got the 2 volume C.H.Brewitt-Taylor edition published by tuttle.I love dynasty warriors and it didn't take me long to finish.Because of the chinese translation system used, some of the names are spelt differently to DW.I got mine from amazon ages ago.I'd recommend it to all true DW fans.

I've read the books, they're excellent. I was gripped from beginning to end, I was disappointed when there was no more to read.

I love history so these were my kind of read.
