What do you like about KOEI (the company) and their games (which series to be exact)? The design? The music? Or any other?

To me I was never a fan of the Three Kingdoms but because of my friend recommendations and kept talking about how good DW was, then I tried that out and got addicted, with the gameplay, exercise my finger with the awesome music, then I learned bit by bit about Three Kingdoms from DW and Sengoku era from SW. Of course they're not all accurate but what I like is simple gameplay, music and design

Mindlessly slashing weak units down, then facing Lu Bu. :|

It's really the fact it was all a historic event and having so many battles and characters different from each other, just added to the fun of the DW series to me. Plus the music is excellent as well.

It wasn't till a year or two I tried Samurai Warriors from its release, but I love it just as much now and for very similar reasons.

They provided the first game where I was a pretty looking guy with a pointy sword fighting off wave after wave of soldiers and not alone either (Dynasty Warriors 2 Zhou Yu), my childhood dream put in video game form I suppose, bravo Koei, bravo!

Koei provide a variety of different games which suit my taste, I enjoy carefully weaving through battlefields killing hundreds of men and then I also like taking my time, deploying troops, using various tactics and using my wit to out-do the enemy.

As for me, pretty much LDZ covered everything I wanted to say. I like their games, All the artists who made the soundrack's for koei did a excellent work and pretty much everything else. :p

Koei is to blame for the hundreds of fans who haven't heard (or heard but didn't had many interest) about the Three Kingdoms/Sengoku and actually start to read Three Kingdoms book/more information about both periods. Its a game but at same time educational.

Guilty got the 3 kingdoms books shortly after DW4 and got a whole bunch of books of the sengoku period after playing SW and I'm glad they did.

I have to say with koei games it depends on the series about what I like about them.

The warriors series it's the fact I can take on huge armies of troops and generals by myself and also the historic element is also something I enjoy as well and what makes it stand out.

Bladestorm it was the ability to be a leader of different units and having to use different units to combat different things which I thought was brilliant.

Finally with the ROTK series I'm just a turn based strategy game nut and KOEI really pulled off a great strategy game with having to maintain both of your armies, loyalties and lands which is something I really liked.

Very good point, me and four of my friends jumped on that boat over the passed 4, 5 years.

Hmm...I think the reason why I like Koei's games so much is because they can take a period in history, and bring it to life, gets you involved in it, no matter which character or path you take. Me being someone who really loves history, and something to keep my mind active...this is just perhaps the most brillient combination that I just really like :)

And because of Koei, I joined KW...and now Koei.uk, and have met heaps of new friends, and learnt quite a lot, and I have to thank them for that...even if they might not want to take credit for it :p

For me i gotta say besides the great games that Koei produce from Three Kingdoms & Warriors series through to its strategy games like GrimGrimoire and Soul Nomad its gotta be the guys at the UK office.
They have got to be the only gaming company that reply to fans emails straight away. They interact with you and appreciate the support that fans give to Koei.
I met 2 of these guys at the Birmingham Memorabilia show and they were really friendly great guys. Will and Chin, greatest respect to you guys!!

silvertongue, you met us at Bermingham? Are you Steve? Welcome to the forum!

I was a fan of many game companies, but in recent years, KOEI has become my number 1, the reason is because the awesome fans, the friendly staff, the talented cosplayers I met and the love-able community, they just made you love it deeper and deeper.

As for the games, I think it's because of the easy hack-n-slash and they're related to the history, I never liked to study but playing this game does teach me some histories from China, Japan, even England and France :)

Hi Chin, yes it is me!

Studying has never been my thing though even though i'm back studying again!
I was never really into history either until i started playing the Warriors games. Infact i'm waiting for my Three Kingdoms books to arrive at Waterstones. I've had them once but there were blank pages in them so i had to return them!

The only reason why I like KOEI games still is because of the character designs, voice acting, and music. If I had never took an interest in these games, characters that I like such as Sun Quan, Sun Ce, Liu Bei, SSX, Magoichi, etc... would've never existed in my mind at all. Also, the games have got me interested with the voice actors behind the characters as well especially VA Skip Stellrecht, Yuri Lowenthal, and Dan Woren. I never knew who these guys were until I discovered them on Internet Movie Database. As for the music, I have always been a video game music fan at heart so there is no doubt that the music is another reason why I still like KOEI games.

Koei has always been great with the designs and music. Bit upset with 5's music, but otherwise loved both SW's and DW's, especially SW since I feel it's kept a higher standard of catchy tunes. Though of course fewer games however. And it looks like Koei is still on course with SW3's designs, so that's good news.

They dress up historical figures quite nicely.

Especially their hats.

I think for me it is the fact that Koei listen to their fans more than the magazine reviews. DW has slowely been slipping off the review boards but because the fans don't ask for many changed Koei do not change much.

I think the best series ever made in gaming has to be the DW series, regardless of what the industry "experts" say...the only series which "Could" come close is the Bladestorm series...If Koei choose to expand on that brilliant game!

I think you have fan syndrome because DW has plummeted in every sense possible troughout the series, no offence.

If anything, Koei has failed on listening to its fans, unless its fans is only the japanese section and the japanese like mindless mashing and no collection nor replayability value wich i highly doubt.
