TECMO KOEI Europe, in conjunction with FIST OF THE NORTH STAR creators NSP proudly reveals that it will bring FIST OF THE NORTH STAR to Europeans gamers in a title of merciless action and violent hand to hand combat.

The hugely anticipated FIST OF THE NORTH STAR is a successor to the side-scrollers and beat 'em ups of old, but brought bang up to date with ground-breaking physics, combat, and gore inspired by the cult comic. An uncompromising vision of a ruined future, FIST OF THE NORTH STAR promises to be a no-holds-barred brawler to delight all fighting fans as well as giving FIST OF THE NORTH STAR enthusiasts the game they have been waiting for.

Story:
A ravaged Earth struggles to survive after the nuclear holocaust has left the world in ruins. Pitiful survivors band together in communities and villages, trying to live on what little resources they have left. In the wastelands beyond vicious gangs prey on them for their resources, or sometimes just for fun. A mysterious martial artist named Kenshiro, a man with seven scars on his chest and the chosen successor of the legendary assassin's art Hokuto Shinken (北斗神拳, The Divine Fist of the North Star) has sworn to protect the weak and innocent from the malicious gangs that roam the scorched planet.

Game Features:
• Destructible and interactive environments – In the hugely interactive environments players can smash or pummel their enemies into different objects and buildings as well as pick up objects to maim and obliterate groups of malicious gangs.
• Face down dozens of enemies at once - String combos and attacks together to perform unstoppable killing moves. Power up, then unleash furious Hokuto Shinken special attacks.
• Dozens of unlockable moves - Blistering finishing attacks that can wipe out entire gangs in one blow, or cause single enemies to explode in a shower of gore.
• Hidden characters - Taken straight from the FIST OF THE NORTH STAR universe, players will be able to unlock unforgettable characters such as Mamiya and Rei, amongst others.
• Faithfully reproduced FNS visuals - Every scene and level has been faithfully followed the iconic visual style of the original comic series.
• Original scenarios for every playable character – As well as having their own stories faithfully reproduced from the source material, every character will have a new original story and ending specially made for this game, giving the fans something they could only dream of.

FIST OF THE NORTH STAR has not yet been rated by PEGI. Final game name TBC.

Well I've never been to fond of the "Fist of the North Star" series (i just don't like it's art style) but this game seems pretty awesome anyways and i know there's a lot of fans who wants it so i guess it's pretty good that you're bringing it to europe. :D

Also, please keep the original japanese voices in the game! Replacing them with english voices just ruins the game for a lot of us.

Based on "Legend of Heroes" CG engine ?

FIST OF THE NORTH STAR has not yet been rated by PEGI. Final game name TBC.[/quote]

Dozens of unlockable moves ...
Hidden characters ...
Faithfully reproduced FNS visuals ...

What about outfits, there is an open issue on several fan boards about SHIN's one, wich is a bit "carnival" styled.
Another one is KENSHIRO with his tribal tattoo in the back, quite different from the original "Blue Jean / Mad Max" styled.
Treasure box includes code for KENSHIRO, does the game offer a similar unlock ability ?

FIST OF THE NORTH STAR has not yet been rated by PEGI. Final game name TBC.

As explosions are censored as in the anime and not as in the comic, the DVDs are rated +12.
Can you confirm there are no damages on animals as in the original comic KENSHIRO hits RAOH's horse, that will be problematic for a specific release in UK under a -18 rating (or even not allowed).

Yes! Our tour starts this month too! First stop - ITALY!

From a french speaking point of view, the fan board HQ is located close to Brussels.
As I'm attached to press conf', you're welcome anytime in Paris.

Additionnal questions :

1. Dubbed or subbed game ??

This is a damn hot question in all fans minds. Do we get a totally dubbed version or a Japanese subbed (that'll really fit the best).
If all is dubbed in French wich one of dubbing studio worked on it ? SOFI or SOUNDFACTOR ? Preserving original staff ?
Attacks name translated or preserved ? If translation under progress feel free to ask fans for support.

2. Release

A release on "7" "7" 2010 can be simply amazing and a true tribute to the series as an excellent marketing :D

3. Not defined name

Some sites as Shacknews spoke about "Fist of the North Star Warriors", confirmed / unconfimed ?
Local versions names ? Like "Ken le Survivant" for FR and "Ken Il Guerriero" for Italy ?

Best regards.

I don't think they'll dub the game in french but they could. The news Hokuto no Ken movies was released and dubbed in french with new staff. The best choice would be to keep japanese voices and sub it in different european languages.
I hope they'll change the name "Fist of the North Star" into "Hokuto no Ken" for France. The DVDs and mangas publishers who own the licence in France use the name "Hokuto no Ken". The name "Fist of the North Star" is not famous.

From a personnal point of view, I totally agree on the subbed version.
But from a mass audience point of view, this need to be asked to KOEI to know their exact strategy. Fortunally there are now several videogames only subbed (see the recent Muramasa Demon Blade on Nintendo Wii) and without any damage on sales.

Coming on the quoted "Asuka" reedited manga, I personnaly was in touch with their staff, the "Hokuto No Ken" name was a demand (not a request) from Japan NSP team. They didn't appreciated a lot the previous "J'ai Lu" edition with the title "Ken le Survivant" (Ken the Survivor) that was attached to the name in the TV anime broadcasted in the late 80s by TF1 channel.

ASUKA is part of KAZE brand, that was previously selling NIPPON ICHI X EDGE for TECMO KOEI brand, they follow in the same way the respect of the HOKUTO NO KEN original name. As they own the 1986 movie DVD publishing rights, this DVD use the HOKUTO NO KEN titling

But, on the AB VIDEO brand (those who created the "Ken the survivor" alternative title) on the recent DVDs visuals the title is a bit tricky : "HOKUTO NO KEN LE SURVIVANT", trick is to focus on the packaging on the "KEN" name because in mass minds KEN is the anime pivot. You don't say "do you like Hokuto No Ken ?" to a french manga/anime fan, simply "Do you like Ken ?". That can be helpfull for KOEI release in Europe for local prints. More easily, simply use the name "KEN" or "KENSHIRO" in big capitals will be understood in both France & Italy.

Best regards.

I agree with you, i think Koei should use the logo made by Kaze for the HOKUTO NO KEN Dvds. The name KEN is in big capitals in their titles

Some titles like the following may easily fit European area :

"Dynasty Warriors : Hokuto" (following the Gundam title scheme)
"Hokuto Warriors" (problem is that they are playable Nanto warriors too)
"Warriors of Hokuto" (based on Orochi title)
"Hokuto No Ken Warriors" (good mix between NSP / KOEI partnership)

Main problem with "Muso" in France in French familiar language is a word to qualify an animal nose (not kidding). So from a localisation point of view a videogame with "animal nose" inside its title is not really a good marketing choice.

What do admins think about creating an open poll about title on the French fan board ?

I'm not sure if it'd be logical or anything, but i think something along the lines of "Dynasty Warriors: North Star" would sound pretty awesome.

Just 2 tell u guys I'm very happy too. But I really am thinking about Koei in producing a game and releasing it. well U know it first release must be for Japan only and only in Japanese language then after maybe 3 or more months( just 2 say a long while ) Koei release it in other countries which delays other fans on the earth from playing the game and make them wait until it is released.

maybe a person would say Koei can't because it will take too long to translate the language if that is the problem so how could capcom and other corporations that produce games don't have this problem too. ok let us say they might do that but if they would do it, it isn't going to take long time as much as Koei does.

I hope that Koei see this point and understand what is other countries fans problem, hurry up, work very hard to avoid this negative disadvantage. One more thing I would like to thank Koei and all of the developers and the staff that works in it, if they are going to avoid this point or not.
